Green Building Techniques for a Sustainable Future: An Examination of Current Practices in Ghana’s Construction Industry

The built environment contributes significantly to environmental degradation, climate change, and resource depletion. Green building techniques offer a sustainable solution. This study investigates the current state of green building practices in Ghana’s construction industry and identifies the key drivers of adoption. This study examines current practices in Ghana’s construction industry and strategies for adoption. A mixed-methods approach was employed, surveying 66 professionals in Ghana’s construction industry. The findings reveal a promising trend towards sustainability, with significant adoption of green building techniques. Government initiatives, growing demand for sustainable infrastructure, environmental awareness, and economic benefits emerged as the primary drivers of adoption. The results have important implications for policy decisions, industry stakeholder engagement, and awareness initiatives. The findings suggest that policy support, capacity building, and awareness campaigns are crucial for continued growth in green building practices. By informing Ghana’s sustainable development and environmental conservation efforts, this research contributes to the global effort to mitigate climate change.
